There are two main types of stressors; internal stressors, and external stressors.
- Internal stressors are thoughts that you have about yourself, and your abilities; if you have expectations that are too high for yourself, or even impossible to achieve (such as being as skinny as some of the models on magazines), you could cause yourself a great amount of stress because you are convinced you have to be that way (even though you can't be that way).
- External stressors are events that occur around you in your everyday life that upset or irritate you; if you don't feel like you fit in with the 'cool kids' at school, if you feel angry when you don't get at least a certain mark on a test, or even if you have a sibling that is constantly annoying you at home, you have experienced or are experiencing 'external stressors'.
When you're over-stressed, you are effecting yourself socially, mentally, and physically in some of the following ways;
Social Effects of Stress
- Bad relationships with others
- Avoiding social contact with other people
- Being avoided by others due to crankiness and moodiness
Mental Effects of Stress

- Tiredness
- Depression
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Difficulty thinking, concentrating and reacting
Physical Effects of Stress
- Heart Disease
- Obesity
- Digestive Disorders
